A SET OF TWELVE GEORGE III EMBOSSED BIRD PICTURES by Isaac Spackman , each depicting one or two birds perched in a laurel tree or on a rock, in a Regency moulded ebonised and parcel-gilt frame, one inscribed in ink on a label on the back panel after nature by J Spackman Islington 1769 and also from Butti Nov 1st 10/- , inscribed in pencil Reframed by John George May 1st 1817 , the reverses of the actual cards variously inscribed GH and James in brown wash, four in later frames n suite, nine with labels on the back panels identifying the birds as: Painted pheasant from China N o I Indian Paraquet/Little Blackwhite &/Red India n Creaper N o III Green Indian Flycatcher N o IX Chinese pheasants N o VII Cock Bullfinch and Blue Headed Titmouse Mock Bird N o VIII Red Legged Partridge N o X Black Headed Icterus N o VI Touraco N o XI 11½ x 9½in.(29 x 24cm.)
