A set of seven mahogany dining chairs, in George III style, 19th century, each rectangular 'ladder' back with four pierced cross splats, each centred by a foliate scroll motif, above the padded and upholstered tapering rectangular seat, on moulded square section legs, joined by an H-shaped stretcher, together with three similar dining chairs, (10) Condition Report: Please note, this lot is not a 'true' set of ten but, as catalogued, a set of seven and three chairs of a similar design. The three additional chairs with this set (including one carved) are of a slightly smaller proportion and have related but different carving and form. Two of the chairs are upholstered in fabric and not leather. All chairs with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. All chairs have been recently re-upholstered and the leather/fabric seats are in good order. All chairs are structurally solid overall. Some old repairs. The two chairs without fabric covering to the undersides of the seat have evidence of old worm to seat rails. On armchair has had the arms replaced. A veneer repair is visible to the chair back adjacent to where the arms join from where the previous arms once sat. The other armchair with old repair between one arm and the chair back.
