Le Gros's time was largely taken up with decoration of the palace and extensive gardens at Versailles producing works to the designs of designers such as Charles Le Brun whilst also collaborating with other sculptors of the Bâtiments du Roi. Le Gros's term statues of the four seasons are now in the permanent collection of the Louvre Please note due to the size and weight of this lot, it will be displayed at our Bonhams New Bond Street premises as opposed to Bonhams Knightsbridge from Tuesday 8th February until post-sale on the Thursday 17th February when it will be removed to Cadogan Tate.
