Round 9 inch barrel; .68 caliber smoothbore; marked on left side of breech with traces of ordnance marks, small broad arrow stamped on tang. Flat lockplate with single line border and elongated rounded tang marked Enfield; reinforced cock; marked in center with crown over WR cypher and small ordnance mark; bridle engraved. Brass New Land Pattern furniture of the late style; no stirrups on buttcap, brass ramrod entry thimble, and simplified triggergaurd with no finial, marked with crown inside bow. Steel swivel ramrod stamped near tip with crown. Walnut stock; marked near top on right side of grip with a large broad arrow over BO stamp along with two small crown over 9 stamps, crown over P stamped behind sideplate; initials IW deeply carved in 1/2 inch letters into left side of grip. Condition: Very good. Barrel has been heavily cleaned, bright finish, markings worn; some pitting, dark lines and spots, and light rust. Lock with bright patina and some scattered light pitting and dark spots; markings crisp. Top jaw and top jaw screw of cock possibly replaced. Brass furniture polished, now with mellowing patina, some dark spots and minor scattered dents and marks from use. Stock refinished, scattered marks from use; minor 1/2 inch hairline crack at lock tang; excellent markings. See Illustration
