A RESTAURATION MAHOGANY BUREAU A GRADIN CIRCA 1830 The rectangular superstructure with four short drawers mounted with addorsed griffins over a sliding top and spring-loaded fall-front secretaire drawer opening to a leather-lined writing surface and bird's eye maple interior with four short drawers, over two short and one long drawer, one drawer with a removeable fitted compartment and strong box, on foliate-carved lion monopodiae supports joined to straight rear uprights with runners, headed by lyre mounts, finished to reverse, inscribed to the inside of rear right leg '279-12-4070', the central mount to secretaire drawer later added, previously with a different mount to secretaire drawer 42½ in. (108 cm.) high, 57½ in. (146 cm.) wide, 27½ in. (69 cm.) deep
