A Regency rosewood, coromandel and gilt metal mounted sofa table, circa 1815, the rectangular coromandel banded top incorporating a pair of hinged leaves with canted corners, the gothic style tablet moulded frieze incorporating a pair of frieze drawers and a pair of opposing false drawers, the cluster column stem above for hipped downswept legs with brass caps cast with oak leaves and brass casters, 71cm high, 93cm wide (unextended), 72cm deep For various examples of Regency furniture employing Gothic detail in their design see Frances Collard, Regency Furniture, Antique Collectors Club, 1985, see particularly pages 164, 165 and 176. The library table on page 176 particularly demonstrates a similarity in design and use of materials to the sofa table currently being offered. As part of the refurnishing of Windsor Castle, the library table was made by Morel and Seddon in 1827 and probably designed by A.W.N. Pugin. Condition report disclaimer
