A RARE PAIR OF RARE IRON-RED AND YELLOW ENAMELLED 'DRAGON' DISHES JIAJING SIX-CHARACTER MARKS WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1522-1566) Each is painted in iron red over an egg-yolk yellow enamel ground and pencilled in black enamel with a central medallion enclosing a ferocious dragon striding amid a lotus scroll, below the cavetto with a band of lotus meander showing eight blooms encircled by their stem. The exterior is similarly enamelled with a pair of striding dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls, all within single and double line borders. 8 3/4 in. (22.2 cm.) diam., box (2)
