A rare North German table casket of amber and ivory, Danzig circa 1680 the top veneered with triangular shaped, translucent tablets of amber forming a star, their underside finely engraved with flowers and foiled, the centre formed by an octagonal, oblong ivory plaque carved and pierced with Euridyce and Orpheus, the remaining amber tablets opaque, also covering the sides and arranged around two small drawers of ivory, the whole raised on baluster, foliate feet, remains of openwok foliate frieze around the underside of the casket, many tablets detached and missing height 7cm, width 21.5cm, depth 16cm
