attributed to Anton Seuffert, with shaped and hinged oval marquetry top inlaid in native New Zealand timbers with a sunburst design, opening to reveal a shallow, velvet-lined box, on four rectangular section supports united by a shaped rectangular marquetry undertier, with outswept feet. Accompanied by two cards: the first being a diagram of the marquetry top with each of the veneers used named, including Mottled Kauri, Puriri, Bewa Bewa, Burr Totara, Curly Totara, Koke Kohe, figured Mangiao, The second being a trade card for: W. Norrie, Shortland, street, Aukland, advertising "Very Rich inlaid Table tops, cabinets, Fancy Boxes, chess tables, etc, all inlaid from the finest class of New Zealand Handsome Forest Timber" Inscribed in ink on the reverse: "Directions to fit up table, first screw the legs to the bottom part with long screws as per the numbers underneath then the top with the short screws as per numbers" 60.5cm wide x 43cm deep x 71cm high, (23.5in wide x 16.5in deep x 27.5in high)
