A rare late 19th-Century tacheometer/theodolite, signed LA FILOTECNICA Ing. A. Salmoiraghi & C., Milano, No. 23670, the 1¾-inch telescope with rack and pinion focusing, graduated bubble-level, additional sighting tube with limb mounted on the axis through the massive vertical prism and optics box with Universal bubble-level, clamp screw, one central and four subsidiary eyepieces, two prismatic viewers arranged to rotate in their mountings, with detachable reflecting mirror and illuminating lamp raised on tapering pillar support with compensating weight, twin tangent adusting screws with associated clamps, the lower part of the vertical support with enclosed trough compass incorporating a clamp, the three-screw tripod attachment with pad feet, with original tools and additional eyepiece with slide, in plush-lined and fitted mahogany case with brass carrying handle -- 23¼in.
