A RARE LARGE FAMILLE ROSE PEAR-SHAPED VASE, HU QIANLONG SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795) Well painted around the sides in bright tones of famille rose enamel with scenes of scholars and their attendants in a mountainous retreat, with pavilions nestled amidst various kinds of trees, some in flower and the leaves of some with a pale pink blush, with figures crossing a stone bridge on one side and with the masts of boats visible above the river bank on the reverse, with towering blue and grisaille mountains as a distant backdrop, the pair of iron-red dragon scroll handles highlighted with gilding 17 5/8 in. (44.7 cm.) high
