A RARE IMPERIAL MIDNIGHT-BLUE SATIN GUARDSMAN'S CEREMONIAL UNIFORM QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD (1736-1820) Comprising a tunic, apron, two sleeves, epaulettes, and under arm protectors, the ceremonial uniform is made of dark midnight-blue silk satin, decorated throughout with round brass studs in the central panels and diamond-shaped brass along the brocade borders. The uniform is embroidered with orange, blue, green, and yellow bats amidst trailing clouds, all above crashing waves and lishui stripe. Each panel is embroidered with a four-clawed dragon chasing a flaming pearl couched in both gold and copper metallic threads, encircled by a roundel of blue clouds. The tunic 31¾ in.
