A rare Chinese Dehua whistle in the form of standing European gentleman, Kangxi, circa 1700, wearing a tricorn hat and holding a bird to his chest, covered in a white glaze, 9.5 cm high; a rare Chinese Dehua model of a miniature whistle in the form of a European figure, Kangxi, 1662-1722, seated on the back of a Buddhist lion, 5.2 cm high and a rare Chinese Dehua whistle in the form of a European man riding a dragon, 6.3 cm long (3) The records of the Dashwood cargo sale in 1703, an English cargo ship, included 5400 'toys' with models of animals 'men on beasts' and 490 'small white dogs' amongst other items, and were priced at 1d each.
