A RARE BASTAR BRONZE OF A GODDESS DANTESHVARI WITH A KHADGA AND KHAPPAR Katalognummer: AB0319-1367 Bronze India, 19th-20th century Significantly framed and large portrait of the Danteshvari, which is the main deity of the Bastar. One of her usual privileges is to ride an elephant. Her main temple is in Dantewara. The goddess stands on an oval shaped base with rows of circular openings. Her columnar alike legs are slightly bent outwards. From the feet goes off a cross strut, on which the jagged prabhavali rises. The top section of the prabhavali is inserted. The goddess is holding a khadga (sword) in its left hand and a khappar (vessel) in the right hand. The sword is bent and held high. Dimensions: HEIGHT 38 CM Condition: The chattra is missing at the very top section of the prabhavali, but apart from that the figure very well conditioned.
