A RARE AND IMPORTANT ENGRAVED DELUXE PRESENTATION .44 RF WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 RIFLE Serial No. 28223 for 1869 Wm. B. Shaw From Gov. Winchester, Conn. Blued octagonal barrel (dark patina). Frame, fore-end cap and butt plate silver plated (flaking throughout) and deluxe engraved by Ulrich; featuring bold scrolls and a kidney pattern on a granular ground. Deluxe varnished walnut stock (repaired at wrist, damage at toe) and fore-end. Two Winchester Model 1866s engraved with a similar pattern are serial numbers 27401 and 27412 and both are pictured within Winchester Engraving by Wilson. 24 inch barrel.
