A PAIR OF SPANISH CARLOS IV PALLISANDER, TULIPWOOD AND MARQUETRY COMMODES CIRCA 1800 Each chequerbanded and inlaid overall with geometric borders, the top with a central lozenge depicting a village scene with the Spanish flag and foliate scrolls, above a pair of frieze drawers and two long drawers inlaid conformingly, mounted wtih silvered-brass handles and escutcheons, on shaped bracket feet, the toupie feet probably added slightly later in the 19th Century, with painted numerals to the reverse '812', probably raised in height 39 in. (100 cm.) high; 48½ in. (123 cm.) wide; 23½ in. (60.5 cm.) deep (2)
