A pair of Sèvres plates from the Duke of Leinster service c.1775, finely painted to the wells with baskets, parasols, fans and other objects, the rims with bold flower garlands suspended from gilt and blue scalloped borders, crowned interlaced Ls marks, one with a date code x, painter's marks for Louis-Thomas-Bauquerre, and Antoine-Joseph Chappuis, 24.3cm. Sotheby's, 22nd November 2005, lot 38, The Property of Anne, Duchess of Leinster, for the rest of the service, which was purchased by William Robert Fitzgerald 2nd Duke of Leinster, Governor of County Kildare, on 21st October 1775, possibly in recognition of his marriage two weeks later.
