A pair of Regency painted armchairs, circa 1815, rectangular back, downswept arms, baluster upright supports, padded seat, turned tapering legs, rear outswept legs, together with a similarly decorated Regency armchair, circa 1815, with X-splat, outswept arms, caned seats on turned legs: Sir William and Lady Forbes, formerly of Maida Vale and Northgate, Regents Park and thence by descent. Sir William Forbes (1856-1935) was older brother of Stanhope Alexander Forbes R.A (1857-1947), an artist and member of the influential Newlyn school of painters Please note the dates for Sir William Forbes have been amended to read 1856-1935.
