A PAIR OF MAGNIFICENT AND MASSIVE CHINESE IMPERIAL CLOISONNE ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE COVERED BRAZIERS QIANLONG PERIOD (1736 - 1795) Comprising four sections: the lowest being the brazier raised on three gilt-bronze elephant-head supports gaily caparisoned in 'jeweled' garlands, the sides decorated in enamel with lotus scroll and the wide everted rim with six bi pierced by archaistic scroll and separated by various blossoming branches and flowers including magnolia, camellia, peony, chrysanthemum and other flowers in which birds perch, the two graduated, middle, cylindrical sections with pierced gilt-bronze panels of bats in flight amidst vaporous clouds surrounded by archaistic dragon scroll, those on the lower section separated by columns surmounted by spiralled buds alternately enameled and plain, the domed cover with an openwork ruyi band pendent from the everted rim below three large lotus-filled ruyi panels reserved on a pierced ground of further bats and vapor, all below a large finial crisply cast as a dragon coiled amidst pierced vapor 50 in.
