A PAIR OF GEORGE III ORMOLU-MOUNTED CHINESE BLACK AND GILT-LACQUER COMMODES ATTRIBUTED TO PIERRE LANGLOIS, CIRCA 1760 Each with Sicilian jasper top with white marble flowerhead-filled guilloche edge, above two doors with lacquer panels of courtly ladies in a park landscape, surrounded by a border of scrolling flowers, the reverse with similated nashiji lacquer and enclosing two banks of shelves, above a lobed apron with scrolling flower decoration, the sides with panels of park landscapes and birds, between keeled angles headed by C-scoll and foliate mounts and terminating in scrolling foliate sabots, one commode lacking two shelves, repairs to one top, black wash on panelled back and underside Commode A: 36¼ in.
