A pair of Flight, Barr and Barr Worcester dessert tureens and covers, circa 1820-25The campana shaped bodies applied with rams head handles, gilt gadroon rims and with applied band of white pearls, raised on square feet, the deep underglaze blue and pale primrose grounds divided by neo-rococo gilding, one side of each painted with a group of shells set on a bed of weed, the reverses with floral sprays, winged insects in between, 23.5cm high, impressed crowned FBB mark and full script mark including Coventry St address (4)FootnotesProvenance Lord and Lady Flight Collection The decoration on these tureens relates to the Princess Charlotte service that R.W.Binns attributed both to Henry Stinton and to Samuel Astles. One shell panel includes a 'precious wentletrap', one of the costliest seashells at the time.
