A Pair of Chinese Gilded Wood Figures of Mandarin 18th/19th century one mandarin figure depicted standing, the other sitting, each figure realistically carved wearing official's hat, prayer beads and elaborate official's robe chao fu decorated with a central rank badge, medallions enclosing cloud scrolls, flowers and peaches, the face with a calm expression. Height of taller 10 inches. Estimate $ 3,000-5,000 The seated figure in overall decent and complete condition with no visible restoration. Wear throughout consistent with age and use. Minor rubbing of the gilt. One long vertical age crack and a smaller one to the reverse. The standing figure in overall fair and stable condition with no visible restoration. Wear throughout consistent with age and use. Rubbing of the gilt. A few age cracks to the body. The thumb of the right hand is missing. A chip to the front of the hat and another chip to the feather at the back.
