Model 1877 Lightning double action revolver manufactured by Colt in 1893. Left side of barrel is stamped "COLT D.A. 38" with Colt's 2 line address across the top. Left side of frame bears patent information followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Major metal components are nickel plated, with some smaller components being nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Mother of Pearl grips and features a 5 - 1/2" barrel, half moon front sight, and notched rear sight. Matching numbers include the frame, trigger guard, and butt. Cylinder is 1 digit off, being marked "566" on the rear. Included with this revolver is a Colt factory letter, listing this gun as being shipped with 14 other 1877 revolvers to to H&D Folsom Arms Co. in New York, NY. Factory letter lists this gun as being chambered in .38 Colt, having a 4 - 1/2" barrel, and having a nickel finish. Stocks are not listed. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original factory nickel finish, exhibiting areas of wear and and flaking showing through to gray patina that is mostly concentrated on the trigger guard and grip straps. Cylinder bears an area of pitting. Frame screws retain faint traces of their original nitre bluing. Hammer and trigger retain fair to good amounts of their original nitre blue finish. Bore is bright, exhibiting areas of pitting and retaining good rifling throughout. Mother of Pearl grips show yellowing as well as and some minor losses around the edges. Right grip panel bears several cracks.
