Title: A New Wonderland: Being the First Account Ever Printed of the Beautiful Valley, and the Wonderful Adventures of Its Inhabitants Author: Baum, L. Frank Place: New York Publisher: R.H. Russell Date: 1900 Description: 190 pp. With 15 (of 16) two-color illustrations (including title page) by Frank Verbeck. (4to) original cloth-backed boards, pictorial endpapers. First Edition. In Binding 'A'. First and only printing. This delightful fantasy is actually Baum's first children's book, written early in 1896, before Mother Goose in Prose, but with publication delayed for several years. The book contains short stories set in the Kingdom of Phunnyland, but the title is clearly an attempt to tie the book into the works of Lewis Carroll Bienvenue & Schmidt p.186. Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbing and soiling to coves, wear to edges, corners and spine ends; some soiling and a few small stains to contents, one leaf with a corner repaired, lacking the frontispiece; about very good, scarce. Item number: 279893
