A MEDALLION USHAK CARPET FRAGMENT WEST ANATOLIA, EARLY 17TH CENTURY Comprising almost half the same carpet as the previous lot, (large border patch filled with a part of a later medallion Ushak carpet, repaired patches, corroded browns, ends and sides slightly tattered, repaired fireplace cut, small holes Approximately 7ft.3in. x 8ft.3in. (221cm. x 251cm.) Warp: white wool, reddish at the ends, Z2S, slightly depressed, slightly undulating Weft: 2 shoots red wool, Z1, first undulating, second slightly undulating Pile: wool, Z2S, H2.9 x V3.5/cm. Sides: on the left five and on the right four additional warps, ground-weft drawn around an additional weft thread, thereby the outermost warp of the knotted area is embraced on the left; additional greenish-blue wool shoot, Z2S, flatwoven with the additional warps Upper end: twenty-four flatwoven rows of blue wool, Z2 Lower end: four flatwoven rows of red wool, Z2, and fourteen rows of blue wool, Z2 Remarks: lazy lines, sometimes supplementary shoots
