A Marble Acroterion in the Form of a Theater Mask, Roman Imperial, 2nd/3rd Century A.D. from the lid of a large sarcophagus, with dimpled chin, gaping mouth, large eyes with recessed circular pupils, and slightly gnarled brow, the centrally parted wavy hair arranged in a braid or top-knot above the forehead, flowing over the ears, and falling to each side in three corkscrew curls. Height 13 1/4 in. 33.6 cm.
