A LOUIS XV ORMOLU AND SCARLET AND GILT VERNIS-DECORATED CARTEL CLOCK DATED 1748, THE DIAL SIGNED 'PIERRE LEROY A PARIS', THE INTERIOR INSCRIBED BY THE ENAMELLER 'A-N MARTINIERE, P., AVRIL 1748', THE TOLE PANELS BY DELOUVRAGE The circular white enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes signed Pierre Leroy à Paris , with pierced and chased hands, within a pierced foliate-rocaille case cast with various flowers including sunflowers and roses, with background painted tole panels decorated with chinoiserie style floral sprays, with pierced and foliate-cast pendant base, the whole surmounted with a figure of cupid holding flowers, stamped four times with the C couronné poinçon , originally conceived with grille panels but replaced in the 18th Century with the scarlet and gilt tôle panels which are each signed 'Aux Derriere Delouvrage Bar' in 18th Century ink 37½ in. (95 cm.) high, 15¾ in. (40 cm.) wide
