(A) LOT OF TWO: E. MORTER OHIO RIFLE WITH INDIAN DECORATED 1873 SPRINGFIELD.

Lot consists of (A) Atkinson marked Kentucky style back action percussion lock muzzleloader signed "E. Morter" on top barrel flat and "J. Wilt & Co Dayton, Ohio" on left flat, probably a barrel maker. Emanuel Morter worked in Prymont, Ohio 1860-1864 and then in Brookville, Ohio in 1881. Full octagon rifled, heavier barrel, possibly made as a target rifle. Full curly maple stock with brass furniture. Double set triggers. Original hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good condition with 70% of the original finish remaining. Rifle has no visible repairs or restoration with strong mechanics. (B) Springfield Model 1873 trapdoor rifle cut down to carbine size. Breech block dated 1878 with lock dated 1863. Gun wrapped with hide and decorated with brass tacks replicating Native American use. CONDITION: Gun has strong mechanics and a shootable bore. Most likely a modern decorated Native American gun.
