Lot consists of (A) US M1842 percussion pistol made by H. Aston & Co. of Middleton, Connecticut and dated 1851. 8 - 1/2" round barrel in .54 caliber smoothbore with brass blade front sight. Barrel is inspector stamped on left side "H.S." / "J.P.C." / P" / "J.H". Brass backstrap is marked "F.L. Kruse" in single letter punch, this was added after the pistol left the manufacturer and more research would need to be done to find out who F.L. Kruse was. 1 piece plain walnut stock with single barrel band. Brass mountings. No cartouche visible. CONDITION: Very good as heavily cleaned and polished, with scattered light pitting and heavy handling marks. Stock is good as sanded and finish added with about 3 - 1/4" of bottom of forearm missing. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand with clear stops at half and full cock. Bore is dark with heavy abrasion. (B) US M1842 percussion pistol made by H.
