A longcase clock, England, 18th century The hood with broken tympanum, crowned with brass eagle, inscription in the lunette: ‘Tempus Fugit’ (time flies), cast corner motifs, silvercoloured cypherring, Roman numerals, in the centre a seconds indication, an engraving of a castle in a mountainous landscape, a scroll with signature: ‘John Bisshop Sherborne’, a mahogany veneered case, intarsia shells and bicolour bands, pendulum and weights present, spring suspension.
