A letter to Warren Hastings from the Grand Moghul, Persian manuscript on paper, 14ll. of black nasta'liq on gold ground, silver-sprinkled leaf with further diagonally written inscription, inscription cartouche above, mounted on European album leaf numbered 313, inscribed below, (very light spotting and surface wear) - document 37.5 x 21.2cm.; and another , a bifolio of gold-sprinkled paper, each folio with lines of black nasta'liq in two columns, gold diamond shapes down centre of each folio, on similar album leaf numbered 25, inscribed below in French and English 'Men resemble the Gods in nothing so much as in doing good to their fellow creatures - 19 x 21cm., album leaves 51 x 35cm.
