possibly workshop of Pierre Reymond (French, 1513-1584), the design after Philippe Galle (Dutch, 1537-1612) painted in clear and metallic coloured enamels with gilded details, the sibling gods to the sky suspended amidst swirling clouds, Apollo holding a bow, Artemis an arrow, the twelve semi-clad youths and maidens to the foreground imploring and crouching in distress, a river and a town landscape to the background, the rim with a typical continuous maskhead, vase and scrolling lambrequin border, the rear painted with a central classical male profile portrait, possibly Apollo within a draped strapwork border flanked by Classical male nudes, a putto above and a maskhead of Artemis below, 39cm diameter
