Lot details Khmer Empire, mid-10th century. Gracefully carved, wearing a short sampot neatly incised with parallel pleats, secured by a belt with double fish-tail textile sections falling to the front and a butterfly fold at the back. The mustachioed face with serene expression, almond-shaped eyes, gently ridged brows, and full lips forming a subtle smile, flanked by pierced elongated earlobes. The hair coiffed in a tiered faceted chignon secured by a flared foliate tiara. Provenance: From the private collection of Camille Mines (1950-2018), Luxembourg. By family repute acquired by his father, René Mines, in the local trade before 2000. By descent to Robert Mines. A copy of a provenance statement written and signed by Robert Mines, dated 22 January 2024, confirming the above, accompanies this lot. Condition: Overall good condition, commensurate with age. Extensive wear, signs of weathering and erosion, losses, small chips, nicks, small structural cracks, and scratches.
