A LARGE PAIR OF CANTON ENAMEL CANDLESTICKS QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY Each candlestick is raised on four legs in the form of ruyi sceptres decorated in gilt and blue enamel, and joined to a central vertical support by gilt-metal braces composed of ruyi -shaped clouds. The mid-section of the candlestick is constructed from two perpendicular planes, each is comprised of an openwork 'double happiness' character held between a pair of bats, which further supports two pairs of fish issuing vapours upholding the metal drip-pan. 17 in.
