A LARGE GROUP OF COPTIC TEXTILE FRAGMENTS MAINLY 4TH-8TH CENTURY A.D. Including a rectangle with thick fringe on the lower edge, decorated with a broad pale and dark brown band with a long double frieze of stylized figures with one arm raised, the other down, above the fringe a square with two standing figures, their middle fingers extending into a long hook, 26 x 9.5/8 in. (66 x 24.4 cm.) max.; a rectangle with a broad band with five friezes of seated figures, bright red stripes on either side, 15 x 12¾ in. (38 x 32.4 cm.) max.; a rectangle with two purplish-brown friezes each with a procession of four birds, 6½ x 4.5/8 in. (16.5 x 11.7 cm.) max.; a rectangle with band infilled with dark brown undulating fruiting tendrils, 9½ x 6½ in. (24.1 x 16.5 cm.) max.; a dark red band with black circles and semicircles decorated with stylized plants, two polychrome leaf and flower friezes flanking, 19.3/8 x 4 in. (49.2 x 10.1 cm.) max.; a fragment of a band, the lower edge with thick loop fringe in purple, cream and orange, 9 in.
