A KYO-SUKASHI IRON TSUBA EARLY EDO PERIOD (17TH CENTURY) Circular, the guard is pierced with radiating spokes and between each spoke are two levels of stylized birds (probably chidori ) in flight, the upper forming the rim, unsigned, diameter 7.6 cm; together with a Kamiyoshi style iron tsuba pierced at the rim with four sets of three loops and applied in gilt hira-zogan on both sides with stylized flowerheads and vines, unsigned, 17th/18th century, height 7.8 cm.
