(8vo) 8¾x5½, full early calf with later rebacking. Fifth Edition, corrected and augmented. The first edition in English had appeared in 1703, and the supplementary material was added to the third edition of 1714. Maundrell was the chaplain of the Levant Company at Aleppo from 1696 to the time of his death in 1701. This account is the first description of Baalbeck and Palmyra by an Englishman. Maundrell's narrative passed through numerous editions in England and on the Continent.
