A GROUP OF GILT METAL JEWELRY, CHANEL Comprising a pill box, the slightly shaped square outline decorated on the hinged top and base with black enamel, the lid centering the signature monogram of interlocking "C's", mounted in gilt metal; a comb, decorated with a band of faceted jet beads, suspending a tassel of faceted jet beads, mounted in metal and tortoise shell; a bar brooch, designed as a bar inscribed "MOSCOU, 1967," supporting the letters CHANEL, in gilt metal; and a suite of eight gilt metal buttons, each of circular outline with coiled border enclosing the signature monogram of interlocking "C's", 1, 5, 1.5, and .75 in., respectively Unsigned Chanel, signed Chanel on an oval plaque, unsigned Chanel, and unsigned Chanel, respectively The pillbox was made for Mlle. Chanel and subsequently used for Chanel solid perfume. The fringed hair comb was made for Marina, a Chanel model, who wore it at the front of her coiffure, with the comb in place and the black stones cascading over her eyes. The signature Chanel brooch from Moscow was created by M. Goossens for an exhibit to present the Chanel collection in 1967. In addition to this brooch, a poster and a catalog were designed for this exhibit. (4)
