A GROUP OF FOUR PAINTINGS DEPICTING CLASSICAL, ALL FEMALE CIVILIZATIONS - PERHAPS THE ISLAND OF LESBOS, BY SWISS ARTIST HEINRICH VON NUSSBAUMER (1866-1964). Comprising first, a vertical painting depicting an outdoor scene within an arched reserve with men on horseback capturing women, 27.5 inches x 8.5 inches (70 x 21.5 cm), second a horizontal landscape with a gathering of women and animals, 8.5 inches x 30.75 inches (21.5 x 78 cm), third a dusk alpine landscape depicting women returning from a lake, 7 inches x 21 inches (18 x 53.5 cm), and fourth a summer landscape with women near and bathing in a lake, 14.5 inches x 21.25 inches (37 x 51.5 cm). Each oil on canvas laid down and unframed. Each initialed HVN or later inscribed H.V. Nussbaumer.
