A GROUP OF EUROPEAN LATE BRONZE AGE AND ROMAN FIBULAE 8TH CENTURY B.C. AND LATER Comprising a Roman gilt bronze crossbow fibula, the bow and foot with niello rope pattern, with three pairs of relief scrolls on each side of the foot, the head of the bow and crossbar with cupola-shaped terminals, remains of pin, 2¼ in. (5.7 cm.) long; and a group of bronze fibulae comprising a large leech-shaped fibula, the bow decorated with bands of incised lines bordered with punched dots, the pin with coiled spring, 8th Century B.C., 3 in. (7.6 cm.) long; another with lozenge-shaped open bow, incised chevron longitudinal bands, 7th Century B.C., 2 in. (5 cm.) long; three fibulae including one of Sundwall type D IV, the catchplate with elaborate serpentine element riveted to conical terminal of bow, 800-750 B.C., 4¾ in. (12.1 cm.) long, a Roman crossbow fibula, 2nd Century A.D., 2½ in. (6.4 cm.) long, some repair; a Roman bronze key, 2 3/8 in. (6 cm.) long; and a Central Asiatic rectangular openwork belt ornament, with winged horse and foliate ornament, pierced in centre, circa 2nd Century B.C., 2 5/8 in. (6.6 cm.) long (8)
