A group of carved bamboo Scholars' Objects Qing Dynasty comprising: a brushpot of cylindrical form, the exterior finely carved with a pair of birds on a flowering branch, the rim slightly convex, standing on three low feet; three wristrests, each of arched rectangular form, one carved in low-relief of a delicate branch issuing a half-eaten citrus fruit, with one blossom and leaves, the other two inscribed in various calligraphic styles; a small carving of the laughing 'Hehe' twin boys, both attempting to hold down a flat circular basket containing tortoises, their hair in double topknots; an intricately carved cluster of pine needles, resembling the terminal of a ruyi-scepter; and a covered container, carved to resemble a lotus seed pod, the lid in the form of a sprig (8) largest: 10 5/8 in., 27 cm
