A GREEK BRONZE HANDLE circa late 6th century b.c. The cast handle originally attached to a hammered bronze hydria, the wide vertical grip with a raised beaded band in the center, the upper juncture with an antithetical pair of couchant lions once positioned on the vessel rim, their heads turned out, their tails trailing along the upper curve of the grip, with raised tongues between the lions, the lower juncture with an inverted palmette surmounted by volutes, a large band of beading framed by smaller bands on the crossbar above, each end terminating in rotelles 9.1/8 in. (23.2 cm) long
