A Great War M.C. group of seven awarded to Captain Frank Taylor 8th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment Military Cross, G.V.R., the reverse inscribed ‘Capt. F. Taylor. 8th Lincoln Regt. 1918’; 1914-15 Star (Q.M. & Lieut. F. Taylor. Linc. R.); British War and Victory Medals (Capt. F. Taylor.); Coronation 1902, bronze; Army L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (1352 C. Sjt. F. Taylor. Linc: Regt.); Meritorious Service Medal, G.VI.R., 1st issue (C. Sjt. F. Taylor. Linc. R.) mounted as worn, very fine or better (7) £800-1000 Footnote M.C. London Gazette 1 January 1918. M.S.M. Army Order 49 of 1939. Frank Taylor served in the ranks of the Lincolnshire Regiment and received the L.S. & G.C. medal as a Colour-Sergeant in April 1907. He was commissioned as Hon. Lieutenant and Quartermaster on 10 March 1915, and served with the 8th (Service) Battalion, The Lincolnshire Regiment, in France and Flanders from 10 September 1915 until the end of the war. He held ‘Temporary’ wartime commissions as Lieutenant and later Captain, and afterwards reverted to the ranks.
