A good early 19th-Century lacquered-brass Nairne-pattern compound monocular chest microscope, unsigned , the barrel with sliding eyepiece cover held in a collar from the square-section pillar, the eared stage sliding on two sleeves with fine-screw adjustment and clamping screw, the base of the pillar with concave mirror and a compass joint attached to the case, the microscope tilting upwards and a side-section of the case hinged to fold down for use, with six numbered objectives, lieberkuhn and sleeve, cone, livebox, frogplate, sprung stage with condensor, stage bull's-eye and forceps, test tube, turned ivory canister with split rings and talcs, eight four-cell ivory sliders and a photocopy of the specimen list with a description and use of the instrument with engraving, the green plush-lined fitted mahogany case with brass carrying handle and two keys and stepped feet -- 30.1cm.
