A Gold, Polychrome Enamel and Multi Gem "Ice Cream Sundae" Carving, Manfred Wild, Idar-Oberstein, Germany, depicting a sundae that looks quite edible, the artist has created a complex yet whimsical sculpture from an extensive variety of materials, the glass formed from exceptionally high clarity rock crystal quartz with faceted citrine rondelles and 18 karat yellow gold banding, the various and colorful "flavors" of ice cream carved from thulite for strawberry, beige jasper for mocha, aventurine quartz for mint, yellow calcite for orange, white quartz for vanilla, and cappuccino jasper for chocolate, topped with a bright carnelian cherry, a wafer cookie of Kalahari jasper and white dolomite whipped cream, the generous portion topped with a gold parasol accented in sections with translucent blue, green and purple enamel over guilloche. 29.20 x 8.13 x 8.13 cm. Estimate $ 10,000-15,000 Property from the Estate of Gerard L. Cafesjian, Naples, Florida The sculpture is wholly complete, all components are present and securely set. The gold, silver and enamel umbrella shows no wear to the guilloche enamel accents, the underside of the silver umbrella shows minor oxidation that could be easily cleaned. The rock crystal, citrine and gold sundae glass shows no appreciable wear. The carved stone ice cream, whip cream, wafer cookie and cherry elements show no appreciable wear.
