A German gilt-brass and gilt-copper square table clock with double-six hour strike
CHRISTOPH MÜLLER, AUGSBURG. THIRD QUARTER 17TH CENTURY
A German gilt-brass and gilt-copper square table clock with double-six hour strike Christoph Müller, Augsburg. Third quarter 17th Century The case with engraved upper border and with D-ended glazed viewing panels to all sides, the hinged underside with toupie feet and fitted with a bell secured with a strap, the 8 cm. square gilt-copper dial with scored line border and engraved with flowerhead spandrels, brass bezel to silvered Roman chapter ring, strike regulation by X, rosette-engraved centre, single steel hand, the one day movement secured in the case with turn catches, its plates secured with four slender baluster pillars, pinned to the front and with nuts to the back plate, chain and fusee for the going train and barrel for the strike train, verge and balance escapement with pierced and engraved cock to brass three-arm balance, later spring and threaded screw regulation, the countwheel calibrated 1-6 four times, striking via boar's head engraved hammer on bell to case, the back plate signed Christoph Müller/Aug See movement detail p.30 10.5 cm. square
