A GERMAN BARREL CROSSBOW with slender steel bow, string of twisted cord (damaged), octagonal iron barrel (fore-sight missing), lightly carved walnut tiller (slight worming) inlaid on the cheek-piece with a staghorn roundel engraved with a male profile bust within a laurel-wreath, sliding horn patch-box cover engraved with flowerheads and foliage, iron loop and nut, engraved trigger-plate (trigger-guard missing), set trigger, and horn butt-plate, early 18th Century; and a Flemish target crossbow with robust steel bow struck with a mark, steel retaining loops and stirrup, wooden tiller with large rest, brass nut, and fixed moulded iron trigger-lever, with windlass (cords missing), the windlass 17th Century; and a wooden 'goat's foot' lever (wormed) The first 27in.
