A George III-style mahogany quarter chiming longcase clock in the manner of Thomas Chippendale circa 1870 12-inch dial with wheatear border, floral rococo scroll spandrels, matted centre, a silvered plaque bearing the signature Alexander Cumming, London, strike/silent dial in the arch, the massive three train skeletonised movement with scroll plates, turned and screwed pillars, high count train, six spoke wheels throughout, dead beat escapement with maintaining power, roller suspension, chiming on a nest of eight large bells and striking on a coiled gong, the Chippendale-style case with domed and foliate-carved cresting above floral trellis frets and scroll-carved canted hood corners, the tapered trunk and break-front plinth with applied foliate carving253cm; 8ft 3¾in high
