A GEORGE III BRASS-MOUNTED BLACK AND GILT JAPANNED CABINET-ON-STAND The cabinet 18th century, the stand early 19th century The cabinet decorated overall with oriental scenes of foliage and pavilions in landscapes, a rooster and hen, and seated scholars, enclosing an interior of ten variously-sized drawers lined in simulated gilt nashiji , decorated with pavilions, foliage and birds, on a black painted and parcel-gilt stand decorated with Chinese caligraphy and a simulated marble plinth, the drawers numbered one through to ten and one inscribed, 'Nov 1812, LH' and February 18, the reverse of the cabinet also inscribed 'February 1824' 66 in. (168 cm.) high; 40½ in. (103 cm.) wide; 20½ in. (52 cm.) deep
