A George III black lacquer longcase clock, circa 1780 The case with brass ball and spire finials to the pagoda top hood, glazed side panels and turned pilasters, the breakarch trunk door gilt decorated with chinoiserie pagodas and figures, a man on horseback below, similar ornament to the stepped plinth on block feet, the brass dial with foliate spandrels to the silvered chapter ring, unusual radial centre with subsidiary seconds and date rings, strike/silent in the arch, the five pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 97¾in.
